I am writing this right now with my kid while she is eating a bagel in the middle of the night because she slept all day. I’m doing research on this topic, and I am going to do my best to find products that everyone with a dark complexion can use.
Now that I have done some research, this is what I’ve found:
The number one thing that those with black or brown skin have to worry about the most is hyperpigmentation. Also, the more melanin skin has, the more fatty acids and vitamins it needs, and it is also a good idea to stay away from sulphates.
According to The Zee Report, these are ingredients that are better for those with black or brown skin:
1). shea butter
2). almond oil
3). aloe vera
4). baobab oil
According to Oprah’s website, these are ingredients that help with hyperpigmentation:
1). vitamin C
2). niacinamide
3). hydroquinone
4). retinol
5). glycolic or lacic acid
According to my research, these are the best brands for combating hyperpigmentation and are the best for black/brown skin overall:
1). Sunday Riley
2). The Ordinary
3). Elta MD
4). Drunk Elephant
